In an effort to provide an unforgettable experience for soccer enthusiasts during the FIFA World Cup, the City of Vancouver has revealed further details concerning its official fan zone. Set to take place at the PNE grounds in Hastings Park, the festival aims to be the premier destination for fans across British Columbia, offering a vibrant atmosphere and a range of activities all free of charge.
Fan Zone Features
Jessie Adcock, the Vancouver host committee lead for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, expressed her enthusiasm for the event in an interview with Global News. “We’re hoping to make it the best place to watch the matches in all of British Columbia and Vancouver,” she said. The fan zone will feature multiple large screens for viewing, a variety of food and drink vendors, and family-friendly activities, ensuring something for everyone.
Adcock highlighted that the festival will utilise the entire PNE site, excluding Playland, and will mark the debut of the newly constructed Freedom Mobile Arch Amphitheatre. “It will be transformed from what it is right now, when it’s not activated, to all the parking lots and the various buildings being used, all the gardens and various spots across the site will be animated and brought to life,” she explained.
Premium Viewing Experiences
The amphitheatre will also serve as the venue for premium ticket options, providing fans with exclusive experiences to enhance their enjoyment of the matches. Adcock noted, “One of the things that the amphitheatre affords us is a brand new spot from which to offer different types of premium experiences.” This includes group hosting, diverse food and drink offerings, and reserved seating. While ticket prices for these premium experiences have yet to be announced, general admission to the fan zone will remain free.
Focus on Inclusivity and Community
In a bid to ensure that the fan festival is accessible to all, Adcock emphasised the importance of creating an inclusive environment. “The goal with the fan festival is to make it inclusive and accessible and family-friendly and affordable,” she stated. With ticket demand for the actual matches expected to be high across the 16 host cities, the fan zone aims to be a welcoming space for everyone to enjoy the tournament.
Safety is also a priority, with plans for security measures in collaboration with the Vancouver Police Department and provincial partners. “For us, it’s really important that our whole community gets an opportunity to participate,” Adcock added, underscoring the festival’s commitment to fostering a safe and enjoyable environment for all attendees. “We’re excited to put Vancouver on the map… Soccer is such a multicultural, global event, and it’s our goal to ensure that everybody has a very good experience and creates lifelong memories.”
