In a tragic turn of events, a 33-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Wayne Reid in Coleraine, County Londonderry. The 43-year-old victim’s body was discovered at a residence in Society Court on 12 January.
According to the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), the suspect is set to appear before Coleraine Magistrates’ Court on Monday. This development comes as part of an ongoing investigation, with seven other individuals – two men aged 30 and 41, and five women aged 19, 33, 38, 39 and 45 – still being questioned in connection with Mr Reid’s murder.
The 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder on Sunday, while the other suspects were taken into custody on Friday. Detectives have been granted a court extension to continue questioning three people for an additional 36 hours.
