In a tragic incident that has shaken the community, a high-speed collision in Bolton has claimed the lives of four individuals, leaving two survivors with severe and life-altering injuries. The accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning when a red Seat Leon collided with a Citroen C4 Picasso driven by an Uber driver, Masrob Ali, 54.
The three teenagers inside the Seat Leon – Muhammad Danyaal, 19, and Farhan Patel and Mohammed Jibrael Mukhtar, both aged 18 – were killed in the crash, along with Masrob Ali. Georgina Daniels, 28, and her husband, Tom Daniels, 29, who were passengers in the taxi, survived the incident but are now facing a long and challenging road to recovery.
In a heartbreaking interview from her hospital bed, Georgina Daniels expressed her disbelief, saying, “I can’t fathom how we’re all still alive – it should have taken our lives.” The couple, who had been married just seven months, now face the reality of having to live apart during their recovery, as they both sustained severe injuries that will require extensive medical care and support.
Footage has emerged showing a car with the same number plate and details as the Seat Leon being modified to reach up to 410 Brake Horsepower (BHP) and 550 Newton-metres (Nm) of torque, nearly double the average specifications of the model. This raises concerns about the potential role of excessive speed in the tragic incident.
Georgina Daniels emphasised the need for greater road safety awareness, stating, “There needs to be road safety realisation, but that should have been done much earlier. This kind of danger can’t just be acceptable, where you just say ‘watch out.'”
The loss of life and the life-altering injuries sustained by the survivors have left the community in shock. A GoFundMe page has been set up to support the Daniels and their ongoing medical needs, highlighting the profound impact of this devastating crash.
As the investigation into the incident continues, the community must come together to reflect on the importance of road safety and the tragic consequences that can arise from reckless driving. The lives lost and the survivors’ arduous journey ahead serve as a sobering reminder of the fragility of life and the responsibility we all share in ensuring the safety of our roads.
