In a heartwarming announcement, Usha Vance, the wife of Vice President JD Vance, has revealed that she is pregnant with the couple’s fourth child. The second lady took to social media to share the joyous news, stating that she is eagerly anticipating the arrival of a baby boy in late July.

Usha, 40, and her husband JD Vance have three young children – Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel – and this latest addition to their family is sure to bring even more happiness to their household. “Usha and the baby are doing well,” read a statement posted on the second lady’s official social media accounts on Tuesday.

Born and raised in the working-class suburbs of San Diego, California, Usha Vance (née Chilukuri) is the daughter of a mechanical engineer father and a molecular biologist mother, who had immigrated to the US from Andhra Pradesh, India. She met JD Vance while they were both students at Yale Law School in 2010, where they joined a discussion group on “social decline in white America.”

Prior to becoming the second lady, Usha Vance had a successful legal career, including a stint as a corporate litigator at the prestigious firm Munger, Tolles & Olson in San Francisco. She also worked for conservative judges, such as Chief Justice John Roberts on the Supreme Court and appeals court judge Brett Kavanaugh, before he was appointed to the Supreme Court by former President Trump.

Usha Vance is the first second lady to have a baby while her husband is in office, though other first ladies have given birth during their husbands’ terms. For instance, First Lady Frances Cleveland, wife of President Grover Cleveland, welcomed daughter Esther in the White House in 1893, followed by a second child, Marion, born outside the presidential residence.

JD Vance, who has been one of the most vocal members of the Trump administration in calling for higher birth rates in the US, has expressed his desire for more babies in the country. “Let me say very simply: I want more babies in the United States of America,” he stated in 2025.

As the second lady prepares to welcome her fourth child, the Vance family’s growing household is a testament to their commitment to family values and their desire to contribute to the nation’s demographic growth.
