A devastating drone strike on the El-Daein teaching hospital in East Darfur has resulted in the deaths of 64 individuals, with an additional 89 injured, as reported by the World Health Organization (WHO). This incident, which occurred on March 20, 2026, has drawn condemnation from the United Nations and human rights groups, highlighting the ongoing violence that has engulfed Sudan amid an escalating conflict.
A Grim Toll on Healthcare
The UN’s humanitarian office expressed its horror at the attack, which it stated resulted in numerous fatalities, including children and medical personnel. The strike has been attributed to the Sudanese army, according to the Emergency Lawyers, a rights group that monitors violations amid the ongoing conflict between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
