A protest on Wilmslow Road, known locally as the Curry Mile, descended into chaos last night as police were forced to intervene and seal off the area. Multiple officers were seen guarding the scene, with reports of smashed car windows and crowds shouting and scuffling with one another.

The protest was held in response to the ongoing conflict between Syrian government forces and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), according to the Manchester Evening News. A large group, predominantly male, gathered on the main road around 9pm and were seen pushing towards the police officers who had been called to the area.

As the situation escalated, a riot van arrived on the scene, and police blocked the road, preventing other vehicles from passing through Wilmslow Road. Buses were also diverted away from the area.

Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for comment, but no official statement has been released at this time.

This is a developing story, and The Update Desk will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
