As millions hit the roads for Easter travel, the RAC has forecasted that this weekend will be the busiest on UK roads since 2022. The travel organisation Abta has estimated that around 2 million Britons will be travelling abroad during this period.

Greg Dewhurst, a meteorologist with the Met Office, cautioned that “cold air across Scotland means that rain will likely turn to snow this afternoon,” with heavy snowfall expected to develop throughout the evening. He specified that while higher ground may receive between 20 to 30 centimetres of snow, lower areas could see around 5 to 10 centimetres.
Rail services are also likely to be impacted, particularly along the Ayrshire coast, the east coast mainline, and in the north-east of Scotland. Network Rail Scotland has urged passengers to stay updated on travel conditions before embarking on their journeys.

Dewhurst noted that temperatures could soar into the low 20s by Tuesday, with highs potentially reaching 23C or 24C by Wednesday.
