In a harrowing case that underscores the dangers present in the digital landscape, 19-year-old Carlo Tritta has been sentenced to 28 months in prison after grooming a 14-year-old girl he met through the popular gaming platform, Roblox. The case has prompted the victim’s mother to issue a stern warning to parents about the necessity of vigilance regarding their children’s online activities.
Grooming and Coercion: The Disturbing Timeline
Tritta, a resident of Bishopstoke in Eastleigh, Hampshire, initiated contact with the girl in September 2024. Their interaction began on Roblox but quickly escalated as Tritta shifted their conversations to various messaging apps, including Snapchat, Discord, and WhatsApp. Throughout their exchanges, he engaged in “highly sexualised” discussions and shared explicit images and videos, significantly blurring the lines of a harmless online game.
The situation took a grave turn when the victim’s mother discovered the inappropriate messages and images in August 2025, prompting her to alert the authorities. This led to Tritta’s arrest, during which he attempted to obstruct justice by visiting the girl’s home in an effort to dissuade her from pursuing the case.
Breach of Bail and Escalating Threats
During the court proceedings, Prosecutor Rachel Yarwood detailed Tritta’s alarming behaviour. After initially breaching his bail conditions by visiting the victim’s residence, he confronted her despite her pleas for him to leave. He also sent letters and made repeated phone calls, further complicating the investigation.
Despite a prior suspended sentence for perverting the course of justice, Tritta’s actions escalated when he returned to the girl’s home just days later, damaging property in the process. Ultimately, he was convicted of multiple offences, including creating indecent images and causing a child to watch a sexual act, all occurring between January and August 2025.
In her victim impact statement, the girl expressed feelings of entrapment and fear, stating she was “scared of going downstairs at night” due to the trauma inflicted by Tritta.
The Mother’s Plea and the Court’s Response
The victim’s mother, who remains unnamed for legal reasons, conveyed the emotional toll the situation has taken on their family, stating they now live in a constant state of anxiety and fear within their own home. She described feeling unsafe and having to implement extensive safeguards, including security cameras and altered routines for school pickups.
In a defence plea, Tritta’s lawyer, Edward Steele, argued for leniency based on his client’s neurodiversity, noting Tritta’s diagnosis of Asperger syndrome and a mixed anxiety and depressive disorder. However, the court, led by Recorder Ciaran Rankin, determined that the gravity of Tritta’s actions warranted immediate imprisonment, especially given the high risk he posed to children.
Police Call for Parental Awareness
Following the sentencing, Detective Constable Jodi Bartlett, who investigated the case, highlighted the alarming reality of online predators targeting vulnerable individuals.
