In a shocking turn of events, newly unsealed court documents have revealed a bitter feud between actors Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni during the filming of their 2024 movie “It Ends With Us”. The documents show that Lively referred to Baldoni as a “doofus director” and a “clown” in text messages to her friends and colleagues.
The legal battle between the two stars began in December 2024 when Lively sued Baldoni, accusing him of sexual harassment and waging a “smear campaign” against her. Baldoni strongly denied the claims and filed a $400 million counter-suit, which was later dismissed by a judge last June.
The newly released text messages provide insight into the tensions that arose on the set of “It Ends With Us”. In one message, Lively described Baldoni as a “rabid pig” and said she “literally don’t know a single thing I’ve done that he can smear me about.” She also expressed feeling “bad” for Baldoni, stating that he was “smearing” her for “asking him not to sexually or emotionally harass” her and for “making his movie better.”
Meanwhile, the messages also show Baldoni expressing concern that Lively would use the allegations she had made against him as “leverage” if she didn’t promote the film, writing: “She had the nuclear bomb. If she doesn’t promote the movie she can leak that I’m a bad person or that she felt unsafe with me and ‘all the stuff’ she has on me. Then she’s the victim.”
The text exchanges also reveal that other members of the cast and crew, including actress Jenny Slate and podcast host Liz Plank, had their own issues with Baldoni’s behaviour on set. Plank described working on Baldoni’s set as “truly one of the worst days” of her life, while Slate alleged misconduct against Baldoni and producer Jamey Heath during the filming of “It Ends With Us.”
The legal battle between Lively and Baldoni is set to continue, with Lively’s case scheduled to go to trial in May. The newly unsealed documents have only added fuel to the fire, raising further questions about the behind-the-scenes drama that unfolded during the making of “It Ends With Us.”
