In a devastating incident that has sent shockwaves through the football community, 20-year-old Ghanaian winger Dominic Frimpong lost his life following an armed attack on his team bus. The assault occurred on Sunday as Berekum Chelsea returned from a Ghana Premier League match against Samartex, marking a tragic day for the sport in the nation.

A Shocking Attack

According to reports from the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the team bus was ambushed by six masked assailants armed with guns and assault rifles. As the bus attempted to evade the attackers, shots were fired, resulting in Frimpong sustaining critical injuries. Eyewitness accounts describe a scene of chaos, with players and staff fleeing the vehicle in a desperate bid for safety. Frimpong was struck in the head and, despite being rushed to hospital, succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter. Remarkably, he stands as the sole casualty of this harrowing event, which also involved around 30 individuals
