In a shocking turn of events, Barron Trump, the youngest son of former US President Donald Trump, contacted the Metropolitan Police in London after witnessing the alleged assault of a woman he is reportedly very close with. The 19-year-old made the call from the United States, alerting authorities to the incident in real-time.
According to court transcripts, Barron told the police operator that he had just received a video call from the woman, who he said was “getting beat up.” He provided a detailed account of what he had seen, despite the operator’s initial skepticism.
“I just figured out how to, how to call someone. Uh, uh it’s really an emergency,” Barron is quoted as saying in the transcript.
The alleged victim, whose identity is being protected for legal reasons, later told the court that Barron’s call was “like a sign from God” and that “he helped save my life.”
The incident in question is said to have taken place just two days before Donald Trump’s second inauguration as president, on January 18 last year. Matvei Rumiantcev, a 22-year-old Russian-born man, is on trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court, accused of a number of charges including assault and two counts of rape against the alleged victim.
In an email to the police, Barron described what he had witnessed as “very brief indeed, but indeed prevalent.” He added that he had told the police the alleged victim was someone he was “very close with” and that Rumiantcev had been “giving her difficulty for a long time.”
Despite the police’s attempts to follow up with Barron, he did not respond to their subsequent emails. The trial is ongoing, with the defence barrister describing the woman’s account of the night as a “complete fabrication.”
