In a heartwarming turn of events, a beloved family cat in Elland, near Halifax, has been safely returned home after a concerning incident earlier this week. The owners of the cat, named Nora, are overjoyed and relieved to have their feline companion back.

The saga began on 19 January when a doorbell camera captured a delivery driver allegedly taking Nora from the family’s home on Park Avenue. Carl Crowther, Nora’s owner, had appealed for the cat’s return, stating that she required medication and was in need of care.

“We are delighted, and very much relieved, that Nora is now back home,” said Crowther, along with his partner Sarah and their two daughters. “She is a very friendly cat who doesn’t normally stray far from home, which is why we were so worried on Sunday evening when she wasn’t home.”

The family had adopted Nora from the RSPCA in 2022 and described the past few days as a “very difficult ordeal” as they anxiously awaited her safe return. However, they are now overjoyed that Nora “does not seem fazed by the events of the past few days, and is happily enjoying the extra treats and cuddles” now that she is back home.

West Yorkshire Police have confirmed that a crime of theft has been recorded, and their investigations into the incident remain ongoing. The force received a report of the cat being taken from outside the property, and they have since “located and returned” Nora to her rightful owners.

The Crowther family expressed their gratitude to the public for their support and for sharing social media posts about Nora’s disappearance. They have chosen to leave any further investigation into the matter to the police.

This heartwarming reunion serves as a reminder of the strong bond between pets and their owners, and the relief that can come when a lost or stolen animal is safely returned home.
