In contrast, breast enlargement procedures saw a decline, with only 4,761 operations conducted—a drop of 8% compared to the previous year. Nugent elaborated on the motivations behind labiaplasty, stating, “Patients often cite discomfort during physical activities and concerns regarding visibility in tighter clothing, such as gym wear. Interestingly, many older women have only recently discovered labiaplasty as a viable solution for issues they have encountered for years.”
Dr. Anil Joshi, a consultant ENT and facial plastic surgeon, echoed these sentiments, noting a shift in patient attitudes. “There is a growing selectivity among patients. They are less interested in achieving an obvious ‘done’ look. While breast enlargement hasn’t disappeared, the motivations have evolved; women now focus more on lifestyle than cup size.”
Men’s Cosmetic Choices Are Evolving
The statistics also reveal interesting trends among male patients. In 2025, cosmetic procedures for men primarily centred on facial surgeries, with eyelid surgery emerging as the most popular choice. This procedure saw an increase of 8%, with 346 surgeries performed, overtaking rhinoplasty, which fell by 18% to 273 procedures.
Overall, women accounted for 93.9% of all cosmetic surgeries, with a total of 25,217 operations recorded in 2025, a slight decrease of 2% from the previous year. The total number of cosmetic procedures performed across all demographics was 26,840, also reflecting a 2% drop.
