At just 26, Steven succumbed to an overdose while alone in a relative’s home in New Jersey. Schneider recounted how the isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic had pushed his brother into a dark place that he concealed from those around him. “I didn’t know he was struggling,” Schneider lamented. “If someone had been there with him and had naloxone, maybe he could have been saved.”

In light of his brother’s death, Schneider has embraced the role of a spokesperson for naloxone awareness. Emergent BioSolutions announced their partnership on Wednesday, recognising the importance of educating the public about the availability and efficacy of naloxone in reversing opioid overdoses.
