The entire passenger manifest of 146 individuals will undergo screening for hantavirus upon arrival in Tenerife. Those identified as healthy will subsequently be flown back to the UK while adhering to a strict isolation protocol to monitor for any symptoms of the virus.

The Spanish government, under the leadership of President Pedro Sánchez, is coordinating the evacuation of passengers from the MV Hondius. The president of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, successfully negotiated to have the ship anchor offshore rather than dock, allowing for a more controlled transfer process. However, logistical challenges remain, as adverse weather conditions are predicted, potentially complicating the transfer of passengers from the ship to the shore.
