In a recent surge of violence, Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon have resulted in the deaths of 39 individuals, according to the Lebanese health ministry. These strikes, which primarily targeted the Iranian-backed Hezbollah group, have drawn international concern due to the significant civilian casualties, including children.
Civilian Casualties in Focus
The latest airstrike on the southern Lebanese town of Saksakiyeh reportedly killed at least seven people, among them a child, while injuring 15 others, including three children. The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) acknowledged the tragic loss of civilian lives, stating their operations aimed to dismantle Hezbollah’s military capabilities. They asserted that precautions were taken to avoid civilian harm, including the use of precision munitions and aerial surveillance.
