In the Bhadohi district, which sustained the most severe impact, reports indicate that at least 16 individuals lost their lives in various incidents, with several others injured. Savitri Devi, a villager, shared her family’s narrow escape from their collapsing home. “We rushed outside when the walls started shaking because of the wind. Our roof collapsed moments later,” she recounted, highlighting the chaos and fear that engulfed the community.
Government Response and Relief Efforts
In light of the catastrophe, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered local officials to expedite relief operations and conduct thorough assessments of the damage within 24 hours. He has also pledged compensation for those affected and instructed agricultural and revenue departments, alongside insurance providers, to report on the extent of the destruction.
In Fatehpur district alone, nine lives were lost, with injuries reported among 16 others. Additional District Magistrate Avinash Tripathi detailed that the fatalities included several women, and a tragic incident in Budaun claimed the lives of two young girls who had sought refuge from the storm.
The storm’s aftermath has also seen multiple instances of injuries as people sought shelter from falling debris. In Tark Paroli village, a woman was killed when a tree crashed onto a shelter, highlighting the perilous situation faced by many.
