In a surprising turn of events, actress Jaime King has revealed that she was “blindsided” by her husband Austin Sosa’s decision to file for divorce, just months after the couple had announced their engagement.

The Hart of Dixie star, who had previously been married to Kyle Newman, shared her shock and disbelief at the sudden development. “I was completely blindsided by the divorce filing, which came out of nowhere,” she told Page Six. “I was with Austin the night before it became public, and while, like many marriages, we had normal challenges, I genuinely believed we were working on our relationship.”

King, who has two children, James and Leo, with her ex-husband Newman, also denied reports that she had been spotted on dates with actor and hotelier Vikram Chatwal, stating that any interactions were strictly professional in nature.

The divorce filing comes on the heels of King’s own messy custody battle with Newman, which had resulted in him being granted full physical custody of their sons in 2025. During an appearance on the Whine Down podcast, the actress had opened up about the challenges of the situation, expressing her desire to protect her children from the public scrutiny.

“I’m extremely grateful, and at the same time, the system is really unfair. And I think that it’s really important to support the structure of family and kindness. Just be kind. Be kind and tell the truth,” she had said.

As the details of the divorce proceedings between King and Sosa remain unclear, the actress has emphasised the need for privacy during this difficult time. “This is deeply personal and should remain private, and I hope people will stop making assumptions — particularly ones that unfairly and disproportionately scrutinise women simply for doing their jobs,” she stated.

The sudden end of King’s relationship with Sosa has undoubtedly come as a shock to her fans and the entertainment industry, leaving many to wonder about the circumstances that led to this unexpected development.
