The individual in Ontario had exhibited symptoms “consistent with a range of illnesses” after travelling from Ethiopia, prompting swift testing protocols. “Both initial tests in Ontario and confirmatory assessments at the National Microbiology Laboratory were negative,” she stated, reinforcing the effectiveness of Canada’s health surveillance systems.
Additionally, Dr. Reimer reported that a passenger aboard a flight redirected to Montreal was also assessed and found to be asymptomatic for Ebola by quarantine officials from the Public Health Agency of Canada.
