Ukrainian drone forces have launched a significant strike against Russian infrastructure, targeting a tanker at the port of Taganrog and an oil depot in Armavir. Reports from regional authorities indicate that these strikes are part of Kyiv’s ongoing efforts to disrupt Russian military operations. The incidents occurred overnight, igniting fires but resulting in no oil spills, although two individuals sustained injuries.

Escalation of Drone Warfare

The Rostov and Krasnodar regions of southern Russia have become the latest theatres of conflict, with Governor Yury Slyusar confirming that the oil tanker attack led to flames that were swiftly extinguished. The mayor of Taganrog, Svetlana Kambulova, noted that a local state of emergency, declared on May 27, has now been extended. The Russian Defence Ministry claims to have intercepted 127 drones during the same night, highlighting the intensity of the aerial confrontations.

In Armavir, which has a population of approximately 185,000, local authorities reported that the fire at the oil depot was contained without any injuries. Slyusar stated that almost 50 drones were downed across the Rostov region, an area that has experienced ongoing hostilities due to its proximity to the conflict zone in Ukraine’s Donbas.

This incident, which injured two and prompted Romania to summon Russia’s ambassador, marks a serious escalation in tensions involving NATO member states.
