A significant surge in violence has erupted across Ukraine as a large-scale Russian missile and drone offensive claimed the lives of at least 13 people, including four in the capital, Kyiv, and nine in the city of Dnipro. The deadly strikes, which occurred overnight, have left dozens injured, with emergency responders working tirelessly to rescue individuals trapped under debris in the affected areas.

Casualties and Damage

The overnight air raids targeted residential structures, causing widespread destruction and panic. In Kyiv, the local authorities reported that four individuals had lost their lives, while the situation in Dnipro was equally grim, where nine fatalities were confirmed. Among the injured were numerous children, underscoring the indiscriminate nature of the assault.

As emergency crews raced against time to search through the rubble, air raid sirens blared across much of Ukraine early on Tuesday, indicating the severity of the situation. The strikes, described as one of Moscow’s most extensive offensives in recent months, raised alarms about the ongoing conflict and its impact on civilians.

Moscow’s Justification and Military Strategy

Russia’s Ministry of Defence has framed the attacks as a response to previous Ukrainian operations, asserting that their “strike objectives” had been fully achieved. This escalation follows Moscow’s assertion last week that it would undertake “systematic strikes” in retaliation
