The United Center in Chicago is set to become the first prominent sports venue in the United States to offer THC-infused beverages during live events, signalling a shift towards alternative drink options in the world of sports. Starting next month, attendees will be able to purchase these hemp-derived drinks, marking a significant response to the rising demand for non-alcoholic choices among consumers.

In a recent announcement, the United Center, home to the Chicago Bulls and Blackhawks, revealed its partnership with RYTHM, a local beverage company, to introduce a drink named Señorita. This product, which contains five milligrams of THC per serving, will be available for guests aged 21 and over during games and concerts. Joe Myhra, the Chief Operating Officer at the United Center, expressed enthusiasm about the initiative, highlighting the synergy between RYTHM’s Chicago roots and the venue’s commitment to enhancing guest experiences.
“We are excited to introduce Señorita and RYTHM to the live entertainment space,” Myhra stated. The introduction of this drink aligns with a broader trend among sports venues to diversify their offerings in response to changing consumer preferences.

A Gallup poll from August revealed that only 54% of Americans reported consuming alcohol, the lowest figure recorded since 1939. This shift appears to be driven predominantly by the preferences of younger generations.
In fact, a separate survey conducted by Drug Rehab USA found that 66% of Gen Z and Millennial respondents had explored alternatives to alcohol in the past six months. Notably, 24% of those surveyed indicated they had at least partially replaced alcohol with non-alcoholic or cannabis-infused drinks. This trend underscores a cultural moment as consumers seek healthier and more varied options for relaxation.
