In Toronto, the national postal service has identified specific postal codes—M6K, M6J, and M5V—where residents can expect delays. The city’s Exhibition Place will host six matches, including Canada’s first game on June 12. Canada Post has reassured customers that any undelivered mail will be securely held at the depot and prioritised for delivery on the following business day.
Certain post office locations, including those at 390 Queens Quay West, 761 King Street West, 119 Ossington Avenue, and 1093 Queen Street West, may also experience temporary processing delays on match days. To facilitate mail services, Canada Post plans to remove street letter boxes within the event boundaries until July 22, with alternative mailing options available at the designated post office on Queen Street West.
Vancouver’s Enhanced Mailbox Security
Turning to Vancouver, the situation appears to be slightly different. Canada Post anticipates a higher level of disruption, particularly in the vicinity of BC Place, which will host seven matches during the tournament, including pivotal games on June 13 and July 7. The postal service will take precautionary measures by sealing mailboxes in the event areas on match days to ensure the safety and security of mail. These mailboxes will be reopened the following business day for residents to deposit their items.
Fortunately, Canada Post has indicated that customers with postal codes starting with V6A, V6B, and V6Z should not experience any service interruptions. Additionally, commercial customers near the event locations can expect their services to remain unaffected. The post offices located at 238 Robson Street, 1173 – 88 West Pender Street, and 495 West Georgia Street will continue their operations as usual throughout the World Cup.
