However, as the pilots indicated they could see the runway, controllers allowed military jamming to continue. Cox raised a poignant question: “If you can see the runway, you can see the mountain. Why would you fly into it?”

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) had previously issued warnings to pilots regarding potential GPS disruptions due to military jamming near the White Sands Missile Range, located approximately 40 miles from Ruidoso. The NTSB’s report indicated that the aircraft descended to 9,400 feet before climbing again, ultimately striking the mountainside at 9,950 feet, just below the Capitan Mountains Summit Radio Facility. The victims of this crash have been identified as pilots Keelan Clark and Ali Kawsara, along with flight nurses Jamie Novick and Sarah Clark.
