A court in Warwick has heard harrowing details regarding the alleged sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl in Nuneaton, as two men stand trial for their roles in the incident. The prosecution has described a disturbing sequence of events from July 22, 2025, when the young girl was targeted in a secluded area, highlighting the vulnerability of the victim and the nature of the accused’s actions.

The Allegations Unfold

During the trial, prosecutor Daniel Oscroft detailed how 23-year-old Ahmad Mulakhil and 24-year-old Mohammad Kabir allegedly conspired to exploit the girl. Kabir is accused of attempting to abduct her by forcefully grabbing her by the neck, while Mulakhil is alleged to have sexually assaulted her shortly thereafter. Oscroft emphasised that both men appeared to know each other and had deliberately chosen a young and vulnerable child as their target.

Kabir has denied all charges, including the attempted abduction, while Mulakhil has admitted to one charge of raping a child under 13 but contests additional allegations, including two counts of rape and child abduction. The prosecution asserts that Kabir’s actions were clearly motivated by a sexual purpose, given the circumstances surrounding the attempted abduction.

Disturbing Details of the Incident

The court was informed that the girl had been playing in a nearby park when Kabir allegedly approached her shortly after 6:00 PM BST. He is said to have tried to entice her to follow him before resorting to violence. Oscroft described the girl’s subsequent encounter with Mulakhil, who allegedly lured her to a secluded cul-de-sac known as Cheverel Place, where he is accused of committing the sexual assault and taking indecent photographs of her.

Despite Mulakhil’s claims that the girl was a willing participant, the prosecution argued that any reasonable observer would recognise her as a minor. The girl reportedly misled Mulakhil about her age, claiming to be 19, a statement that Oscroft described as “an obvious lie” that was met with disbelief by Mulakhil.

A Community in Shock

As these allegations come to light, the local community is grappling with the implications of such a grave incident. The trial has drawn significant attention, with residents expressing shock and concern over the safety of children in the area. The case serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities faced by young individuals and the importance of vigilance in safeguarding them.

Both defendants face serious charges that could lead to lengthy prison sentences if found guilty. The trial is expected to continue for several weeks as more evidence and testimonies are presented.

Why it Matters

This case raises critical questions about child safety and the protection of vulnerable individuals in society. With the alarming rise in child exploitation incidents, it underscores the urgent need for communities to be proactive in safeguarding their young ones. The outcome of this trial will not only impact the lives of those directly involved but also resonate throughout the community, prompting discussions about awareness, prevention, and the collective responsibility to protect children from harm.
