Adding to the tragedy, a 76-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of starting the fire through negligence, allegedly igniting the blaze by creating sparks while driving. This incident follows a previous wildfire in the same vicinity that claimed the lives of a 12-year-old boy and his father.

Across the border in Spain, a wildfire that ignited in the Girona region on Friday has consumed nearly 2,200 hectares (5,400 acres).
