Kaitlin Cort, a former engineer who witnessed the rapid pace of AI advancements outstrip her own skills, founded a resource centre aimed at helping tech workers navigate the tumultuous landscape. “There’s a lot of need right now,” she said, revealing that her platform receives numerous inquiries about unionisation and collective action as job security declines.

Cort’s initiative, aptly named What We Will, provides crucial support for workers facing layoffs, offering guidance on negotiations, access to unemployment benefits, and opportunities for upskilling. The surge in interest signifies a collective awakening among tech workers who are keen to advocate for their rights amidst the challenges posed by AI.
