Other notable figures include Nina Tangri, associate minister of small business, and Charmaine Williams, associate minister of women’s social and economic opportunity, with expenses reported at nearly £19,000 and £15,865, respectively.

When questioned about why other members involved in the expense scandal remain in their positions, Premier Ford did not address the issue directly. Instead, he reiterated his commitment to ensuring that all hotel expenses would be reimbursed. “It’s unacceptable. It’s not how we operate. We have to be prudent fiscal managers. Stan did the right thing,” Ford stated, emphasising that every penny would be repaid.
In his resignation letter shared on social media, Cho expressed regret for his decisions, stating that he claimed hotel expenses on nights when the legislature convened late. He acknowledged that, in hindsight, he made an error in judgment. “I have a young family at home and a schedule that too often kept me from them. On late nights, I made a choice that was easier for me,” he wrote. He concluded by confirming that he has reimbursed the expenses in full.
Opposition Calls for Transparency
In response to Cho’s resignation, Ontario NDP Leader Marit Stiles remarked that the situation does not clarify the reasons behind his substantial hotel charges. She accused Cho of living luxuriously at taxpayer expense and questioned the Premier’s confidence in other cabinet members who have also made significant claims. Interim Liberal Leader John Fraser echoed Stiles’ sentiments, suggesting that Cho’s resignation is just “the tip of the iceberg” and calling for a thorough investigation into the expenditure of all ministers involved.
Cho’s tenure in politics began in 2018, and he previously served as the Minister of Long-Term Care.
