In response to the ongoing violence, Washington has reinstated a blockade on Iranian ports, while Tehran has announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and has threatened US allies in the vicinity. US military operations have been described as aimed at “degrading Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping” in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. The country’s foreign ministry has summoned Iran’s chargé d’affaires to express its condemnation of the “unjustified and blatant Iranian attacks,” stressing that any threat to its security is a “red line.” Concurrently, Israel’s military confirmed that it launched interceptors to prevent debris from Iranian projectiles from impacting its territory.
Civilian Infrastructure Under Fire
Reports from Kuwait indicate that an electricity and water facility, which was previously struck, suffered further damage as fires erupted following another Iranian strike. The Gulf Cooperation Council has condemned Tehran’s actions as violations of international law, highlighting the targeting of civilian infrastructure. In response, Iran accused the US of hitting civilian sites, including bridges and an airport, although Washington maintains that its strikes have focused solely on military targets.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has publicly denounced the reliability of US agreements, asserting that “the signature of the US president is utterly worthless and devoid of credibility.”
