Chemmy Alcott, the popular host of Ski Sunday and former Olympic skier, has revealed a terrifying incident during her holiday in France that resulted in a collapsed lung. In a candid post on Instagram, the 44-year-old shared footage of her jumping from a five-metre platform into the picturesque Lake Annecy. However, what was meant to be a thrilling plunge turned into a nightmare when she landed awkwardly, leading to a serious health scare.

Alcott’s Instagram clip documents her ill-fated leap into the lake, which she described with a mix of humour and disbelief. “Most people badly time a front flip off a five-metre platform and get winded,” she quipped, before adding, “I apparently don’t do things by halves. Collapsed lung, chest drain and a very expensive lesson in rotation.” Despite the painful landing, she initially attempted to jump again, driven by embarrassment and the desire to downplay her injury. It was only after struggling to breathe that she sought medical attention, ultimately leading to her hospitalisation.
