More than 100 Labour MPs have united in urging Ed Miliband, the UK’s energy secretary, to consider a radical overhaul of energy bills aimed at reducing costs for households that consume the least power. This call comes amid growing concerns over the financial strain faced by many families struggling to manage rising energy expenses.

The Labour MPs are urging Miliband to explore options for reducing or restructuring the standing charge to create a more equitable system. They also suggest implementing targeted discounts or rebates for those identified as low-energy consumers, ensuring that support reaches those who need it most.
