This figure represents an astonishing 4.3 per cent of all appointments—essentially translating to one missed appointment for every 23 booked, or the equivalent of an entire day’s worth of consultations missed at every GP practice across the nation on a monthly basis.

Dr Doyle added, “One of the easiest ways you can reduce the risk of missing an appointment is by tapping the NHS app to turn on notifications to get reminders, so you can cancel or rearrange them if they need to.” With over 40 million registered users, the NHS app not only serves as a reminder tool but also allows individuals to order repeat prescriptions and access their health notes and documents.
