In a candid interview, renowned adventurer Bear Grylls opens up about his most prized possessions, his celebrity crush, and the invaluable lessons he’s learned throughout his remarkable life.

Born in Northern Ireland, Grylls, 51, has led an exceptionally eventful life. After serving as a soldier in the 21st SAS regiment, he went on to star in a string of popular adventure series, including seven seasons of Discovery Channel’s “Man vs. Wild,” the Emmy award-winning “You vs. Wild,” and the Bafta-winning “The Island With Bear Grylls.” His latest series, “Wild Reckoning,” is set to premiere on BBC One next month.

Despite his fame and daring exploits, Grylls remains grounded, admitting that small social situations make him anxious, while his greatest fear is losing his faith. “I have no big fears because I have faith in my heart,” he says.

One of the people Grylls most admires is actress Julia Roberts, whom he had the opportunity to work with on “Running Wild.” He praises her for maintaining close friendships, being loyal to her family, and not being consumed by the trappings of fame.

When it comes to his own flaws, Grylls acknowledges that he can be overly controlling about “silly things” like timing and the presence of toxic cleaning products in his home. However, he is most critical of those who care too much about what others think.

Grylls’ most prized possession is his old SAS beret, which he keeps on his shelf as a reminder of the “Who Dares Wins” spirit that has guided his life. He has also made a significant investment in an “apocalypse-proof” sailing boat equipped with an array of weaponry, which he sees as a way to ensure the safety of his family in the event of a crisis.

Describing himself as a “faith-filled, never-give-up man,” Grylls hopes to be remembered as someone who knew where life was to be found. He believes that the most important lesson life has taught him is to be grateful for every day, as it is all a gift.
