A new government intelligence report has sounded the alarm on the grave threats posed by the global collapse of natural ecosystems to the UK’s national security and prosperity. The hard-hitting 14-page document, which was originally slated for release last autumn but was held back by Downing Street, paints a dire picture of the impending dangers facing the country.

The report, attributed to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs but understood to have been produced by the Joint Intelligence Committee overseeing MI5 and MI6, warns that the UK would be unable to maintain food security if ecosystem destruction leads to increased geopolitical competition for scarce resources.
