In a surprising turn of events, the court has heard that Barron Trump, the youngest son of former US President Donald Trump, contacted UK police claiming to have witnessed a friend being “beaten up” during a video call. The incident is said to have occurred in January 2025.

Matvei Rumiantcev, a 22-year-old man, is currently on trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court, facing charges of assault and two counts of rape against an alleged victim, whose identity cannot be disclosed for legal reasons. Rumiantcev denies the charges, which are said to have taken place between November 2024 and January 2025.

According to the court transcript, Barron Trump called the police from the US, stating that he had just received a call from a girl who was “getting beat up.” He claimed to have met the alleged victim on social media and said he had asked his friends to call 999 so that he could report the alleged attack.

The court heard that Rumiantcev answered the video call from Barron Trump, during which the alleged victim was “completely hysterical, crying, screaming, shouting.” Rumiantcev told the court that he had held the woman’s arms in self-defence to prevent her from hitting him.

Prosecutors allege that Rumiantcev strangled the woman on the evening of 17 January 2025, and she later contacted the police. The Russian national was arrested the following morning and taken into custody.

Rumiantcev claims that the two had been drinking together that night and into the early morning, and that they had consensual sex during that time. He told the court that he had felt “upset” about the woman’s friendship with Barron Trump, which he had learned about in October 2024.

The trial is ongoing, and the court will continue to hear evidence and testimonies from both sides. The involvement of Barron Trump, the son of the former US president, has added a unique twist to this case, which is being closely watched by the public.
