In a bid to entice customers back into its restaurants, Chipotle is launching a limited-time happy hour promotion featuring tacos at an irresistible price of just $2.50. This special offer will be available on weekdays from 2 to 5 p.m. at select locations across the United States, providing diners with a delicious, budget-friendly option during the afternoon slump.

Taco Tuesday, but Make it Daily

The new promotion is part of Chipotle’s “Power Up” initiative, aimed at encouraging patrons to enjoy real food without artificial ingredients. For a limited time, diners in cities such as Orlando and Tampa in Florida, as well as Kansas City in both Missouri and Kansas, can indulge in a single taco loaded with their choice of protein for a fraction of the usual price, which typically ranges from $3.50 to $4.80, depending on the location and protein selected. However, customers should be aware that this tasty deal is only valid for in-restaurant orders until June 2, so they’ll need to act fast.

While the base taco is a steal, add-ons like guacamole, queso blanco, and extra protein will incur additional charges. The promotion aims to reinvent snacking as a wholesome experience, catering to those looking for a quick bite between commitments.

A Shift in Snacking Culture

Stephanie Perdue, Chipotle’s Senior Vice President of Brand Marketing, commented on the initiative, stating, “As more guests turn to restaurants for snacks, we’re looking at how Chipotle can fit into those moments.” She emphasised the brand’s commitment to providing an alternative to typical snack options that often rely on artificial ingredients. “Chipotle offers a different kind of boost—real food made without shortcuts,” she added.

A Shift in Snacking Culture

This move comes on the heels of other recent enhancements at the restaurant chain. In April, Chipotle revamped its rewards programme, promising customers more frequent perks and greater flexibility. Now, loyalty points remain valid as long as customers make at least one qualifying purchase of $5 each year, with fewer points needed for rewards and new options like a 50% discount on a single meal.

Drone Delivery Expands

In addition to its taco promotion, Chipotle is making strides in technological advancements with the expansion of its Zipline drone delivery service in Texas. Residents in North Fort Worth can now receive their meals delivered by drone, a service launched in August 2025 using Zipline’s advanced drones capable of operating in various weather conditions. Initially designed for lighter orders, the delivery capacity is set to increase as the technology evolves, offering a modern twist on food delivery that could redefine convenience for customers.

Customers pay a $2.99 delivery fee, along with a capped service fee of 15% per order, promoting accessibility to their favourite meals from the comfort of their homes.

Why it Matters

Chipotle’s innovative approach to dining—combining affordable, quality food with convenient delivery options—reflects a broader trend in the fast-food industry. As consumers increasingly seek out healthier, quick dining options, Chipotle is positioning itself at the forefront of this shift. By offering enticing promotions like the $2.50 taco and integrating cutting-edge delivery methods, the company not only aims to boost weekday traffic but also solidifies its commitment to serving real, wholesome food that resonates with the evolving tastes and preferences of today’s diners.
