Renowned Spanish crooner Julio Iglesias has forcefully rejected allegations of sexual assault levelled against him, describing the claims as “absolutely false and deeply saddening”.

The 78-year-old music legend, known for his silky smooth vocals and suave persona, issued a strongly-worded statement in response to the accusations, which first surfaced earlier this week.

“I am deeply troubled by these baseless and damaging allegations,” Iglesias said. “I have dedicated my life to bringing joy and happiness to my fans through my music, and the notion that I would ever engage in such abhorrent behaviour is completely antithetical to who I am.”

The allegations were made by an unnamed individual, who claimed the incidents took place several decades ago. However, Iglesias has categorically denied any wrongdoing, insisting the claims are a fabrication with no merit whatsoever.

“Throughout my career spanning over five decades, I have always strived to treat everyone, especially my devoted fans, with the utmost respect and dignity,” the singer continued. “These allegations are a grave injustice, not only to myself but to all those who have supported me over the years.”

Iglesias, who has sold over 300 million records worldwide and is considered one of the best-selling Latin music artists of all time, expressed his disappointment and sadness at having to address such “baseless” claims.

“I will not allow my legacy to be tarnished by these false accusations,” he said. “I stand firm in my innocence and will vigorously defend myself against these malicious attacks on my character.”

The singer’s legal team has vowed to take all necessary steps to protect Iglesias’ reputation and clear his name. Industry insiders have rallied behind the veteran performer, praising his longstanding commitment to his craft and unwavering professionalism.

“Julio Iglesias is a titan of the music industry, beloved by millions around the world,” said one prominent music executive, speaking on condition of anonymity. “These allegations are simply not consistent with the man we all know and respect. I have no doubt he will emerge from this stronger than ever.”

As the controversy continues to unfold, Iglesias’ legions of loyal fans have flooded social media with messages of support, affirming their unwavering belief in the singer’s integrity. For now, the iconic performer remains steadfast in his denial, determined to protect his name and legacy from what he deems to be a grave injustice.
