“The purpose of this lawsuit is to ascertain the truth surrounding the Tumbler Ridge mass shooting, to hold those accountable, and to seek justice for the harm and loss experienced,” stated a representative from Rice Parsons Leoni & Elliott LLP, the law firm representing the Edmonds family.

Maya Gebala was shot three times at close range, suffering severe injuries that include a catastrophic brain injury, right-sided hemiplegia, and multiple psychological afflictions such as depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). She remains hospitalised at BC Children’s Hospital, with her long-term recovery uncertain.
Dahlia, who was present during the shooting but not physically harmed, has also been affected, experiencing PTSD and anxiety, along with sleep disturbances. Their mother, Cia Edmonds, reports similar psychological struggles, which have significantly impacted her quality of life and ability to work.
