Authorities in Norway have initiated a corruption investigation into Thorbjørn Jagland, the country’s former Prime Minister, amid allegations of his ties to Jeffrey Epstein, the late convicted sex offender. Pål K. Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide emphasised the necessity of transparency in this case, asserting, “It is important that the facts of this case are brought to light.” Eide confirmed that Oslo would formally request the Council of Europe to waive Jagland’s immunity to facilitate the investigation.
Jagland’s legal representation, led by lawyer Anders Brosveet, has expressed readiness to cooperate fully with the investigation.
