While the city’s charm is recognised, some residents like Lili El-Tawil believe it lacks the vibrancy found in larger cities like Toronto or Montreal. With her children now adults, El-Tawil remarked, “They prefer to party in Gatineau and Montreal.”
Conversely, Ottawa native Rebecca Leslie, who currently plays for the Professional Women’s Hockey League team, the Charge, believes the city has hidden gems waiting to be discovered. “The best part about Ottawa is how there are things to do; you just have to search for them,” she shared, highlighting the diverse experiences available to residents.

The Glebe, a historic and bohemian neighbourhood, connects to downtown through Bank Street, where Ottawans flock to venues like the Mayfair Theatre or House of TARG, which is hosting a drag show tonight.
