The frigid weather has already caused major disruptions at airports, with over 60 per cent of flights scheduled to arrive or depart from Toronto Pearson International Airport cancelled between Saturday and Sunday. An additional 10 per cent of flights have faced delays. Passengers are being advised to check the status of their flights prior to travelling to the airport, as the severe storm is affecting operations significantly.
In light of the inclement weather, municipalities in the GTA, including Mississauga, Ottawa, and Whitby, have announced the closure of various facilities such as recreation centres and libraries, starting from noon on Sunday. Toronto Zoo has also opted to close its doors for the day, citing the safety and well-being of animals, staff, volunteers, and visitors.

The City of Toronto has urged residents to stay indoors and avoid non-essential travel, advising them to stock up on groceries and medications earlier in the day if possible. “Get groceries and medication earlier in the day, if possible and only if you have to,” the city communicated through social media.
The impending storm marks the second significant snowfall to impact Canada’s most populous city in just over a week, highlighting the challenges posed by winter weather.
