In a harrowing case that underscores the dangers lurking in online gaming environments, 19-year-old Carlo Tritta has been sentenced to 28 months in prison after grooming a 14-year-old girl he met on the popular platform Roblox. The girl’s mother has bravely spoken out, urging fellow parents to vigilantly monitor their children’s online interactions.
Grooming Through Gaming
Tritta, a resident of Bishopstoke in Eastleigh, Hampshire, first contacted the victim in September 2024. Their initial conversations on Roblox quickly transitioned to other messaging platforms, including Snapchat, Discord, and WhatsApp. Once the lines of communication were established, Tritta engaged the young girl in “highly sexualised” discussions and shared explicit images and videos.
The situation escalated dramatically when the girl’s mother discovered the disturbing messages and images in August 2025, prompting her to alert the authorities. Tritta was arrested shortly thereafter. However, his attempts to intimidate the victim persisted; he breached his bail conditions by travelling to her home, seemingly trying to persuade her to retract her allegations.
Confrontation and Legal Consequences
During a court hearing at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court, prosecutor Rachel Yarwood detailed Tritta’s reckless behaviour. Despite the victim’s clear requests for him to leave her home, Tritta forced his way inside, even damaging property in the process. His actions included sending multiple letters and making repeated phone calls to the girl in a blatant attempt to undermine the ongoing investigation.
Tritta’s previous charges included making indecent images of a child, sexual communication with a minor, and witness intimidation. He ultimately pleaded guilty to these offences, which spanned from January to August 2025, including the creation of 25 indecent images classified as Category A— the most serious level.
The victim’s testimony revealed the psychological toll the ordeal had taken on her, describing feelings of entrapment and fear. She expressed anxiety about being alone at night, fearing that Tritta would come back.
A Mother’s Plea for Vigilance
In a poignant victim impact statement, the girl’s mother shared the distress that has enveloped their family since the grooming began. “Our home no longer feels like a safe space,” she lamented, revealing that they have considered moving out of fear. She recounted the profound impact on her daughter’s mental health, with signs of depression and anxiety surfacing as a direct result of Tritta’s manipulative tactics.
Defending Tritta, his lawyer Edward Steele argued for leniency, suggesting that his neurodiverse condition, including Asperger syndrome and a mixed anxiety and depressive disorder, may have compromised his understanding of the gravity of his actions. Steele described Tritta’s fixation on the victim as a reflection of his condition. However, Recorder Ciaran Rankin rejected this plea, emphasising the need for a custodial sentence to reflect the seriousness of Tritta’s actions.

Detective Constable Jodi Bartlett highlighted the necessity for parents to engage with their children about their online activities. “Do you truly know who you, or your child, is speaking to online?” she asked, stressing the importance of vigilance in an increasingly digital world.
Tritta’s predatory behaviour not only revealed the extent to which he sought to manipulate the victim but also included attempts to disrupt the judicial process by contacting her family and damaging property. Karina Lyon of the Crown Prosecution Service remarked on Tritta’s deeply troubling actions, asserting that the conviction serves as a stark warning against those who exploit children.
