A tragic incident has unfolded in Thorpe St Andrew, Norfolk, where a woman in her 40s has died on the street. Police have arrested a man in his 60s on suspicion of murder and are conducting a thorough investigation into the sequence of events that led to this devastating outcome.

Officers were called to Catherine Gardens just before 11:45 pm on Saturday, responding to reports of an injured woman. Sadly, the woman was declared dead at the scene, prompting a murder inquiry. The arrested man is currently in custody at the Wymondham Police Investigation Centre.

Detective Superintendent Stacey Murray, who is leading the investigation, stated, “We are in the early stages of this investigation, working to establish the sequence of events which led to the woman’s death. However, we do believe this to be an incident in which both parties were known to each other.”

The police have cordoned off Yarmouth Road from the junction with Pound Lane to the junction with School Avenue while the investigation is ongoing. They are urging anyone with information about the incident or the events leading up to it to come forward and assist the authorities.

This tragic event has left the local community in shock, and the police are working diligently to uncover the truth and bring those responsible to justice. The Update Desk will continue to follow this story and provide updates as the investigation progresses.
