In a heartbreaking incident, the Greater Manchester community is mourning the untimely passing of 19-year-old Mohammad Danyaal Asghar-Ali, who tragically lost his life in a head-on collision in Bolton on Sunday, January 11th. The devastating crash, which occurred in the early hours of the morning, also claimed the lives of three other individuals, leaving the families and loved ones of all those involved in a state of profound grief.
Danyaal, described by his family as a “heart, soul, and everything” to them, was a passenger in a red Seat Leon that collided with a Citroen C4 Picasso taxi on Wigan Road. In a moving tribute released through the police, his mother expressed the immense emptiness she feels, unable to fathom the reality of never again seeing Danyaal’s smile, hearing his laughter, or being able to embrace him.
The young man’s sister spoke of the cherished memories they shared, the laughter, and Danyaal’s “silly jokes” that felt so vivid, as if they had happened just yesterday. She described him as not just a brother, but a best friend, someone who had an incredible gift for brightening any room he walked into, his smile alone capable of changing the atmosphere.
Danyaal’s other sister echoed these sentiments, recalling how he “left a positive mark wherever he went,” and how even the dullest of rooms would feel brighter with his presence. His brother, too, spoke of Danyaal’s remarkable sense of humour, describing him as the “funniest person” who served as a constant source of inspiration.
The collision also resulted in injuries to five other passengers from both vehicles, with a 29-year-old woman in the Citroen suffering potentially life-threatening injuries, and a 28-year-old woman and 30-year-old man sustaining serious injuries. An 18-year-old man who was a passenger in the Seat also suffered minor injuries.
