In a heartbreaking incident, a 15-year-old boy named Gabriel “Lui” Guembe was tragically stabbed to death in a woodland area in Guildford, Surrey, on Monday evening. The young victim, described as a “wonderful” and “loving son,” had recently moved to the UK from Lima, Peru, with his mother in search of a better future.

Surrey Police were called to the Lido Road area in Stoke Park around 6:10 pm following reports of a stabbing. Despite the best efforts of emergency services and members of the public, the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.

A GoFundMe page has been set up by a close friend of the Guembe family to help cover funeral expenses and ease the financial burden they are facing during this devastating time. So far, nearly £5,000 has been raised out of a £7,000 target.

The page pays tribute to Gabriel, describing him as an “amazing son and an incredible young soul” who was “kind, bright, driven, and full of promise.” It states that he was a devoted student, a passionate soccer player, and a loving son with a smile that could “light up a room.”

Guildford MP Zöe Franklin expressed her shock and sadness over the tragic incident, stating, “You just don’t expect this sort of thing to happen in Guildford, and it’s just so tragic and devastating that this young person has lost their life, and there is a family who will never have their young person come home.”

Throughout Tuesday and Wednesday, a significant police presence could be seen in the Peacock Wood area, with a large section of the park closed off behind a police cordon as forensic teams combed the scene.

The local community has been left reeling from the loss of this promising young life, and the Guembe family is now facing the unimaginable grief of losing their beloved son. As the investigation continues, the focus remains on providing support and compassion to those affected by this heartbreaking tragedy.
