In a 105-minute address at the White House, US President Donald Trump made a series of outlandish claims and statements, ranging from the divine to the delusional. The self-proclaimed “Peace President” boasted of solving “eight wars” and saving “tens of millions of lives,” despite significant pushback from the parties involved.

Trump also claimed that God is “very proud” of his performance in office, a statement that has raised eyebrows among observers. The President went on to suggest that he could have been a professional baseball player, citing his childhood practice sessions near a psychiatric hospital, a claim that was quickly fact-checked and debunked by local residents.

One of the more controversial moments came when Trump revealed that he had originally planned to rename the Gulf of Mexico the “Gulf of Trump,” before deciding against it, fearing he would be “killed” for the move. This is just the latest in a long line of Trump’s attempts to put his personal stamp on geographical features and policy decisions.

The President’s remarks also touched on his ongoing push to acquire Greenland, a move that has been firmly rejected by Denmark and its European allies. When pressed on whether he would consider using force to take the semi-autonomous territory, Trump ominously replied, “You’ll find out.”

Throughout the rambling address, Trump continued to tout his achievements in office, despite his approval ratings having plummeted by 10 points since he took office. The display was characterised by a mix of spurious claims and outright lies, further eroding public trust in the President’s leadership.
