As the countdown to the 2026 FIFA World Cup begins, Vancouver is gearing up to provide an exhilarating experience for soccer enthusiasts, with the announcement of a dedicated fan zone at the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) grounds in Hastings Park. Jessie Adcock, the host committee lead for the tournament, emphasised that this initiative aims to create an inclusive atmosphere for fans to enjoy the matches without the need for costly tickets.
A World-Class Viewing Experience
Adcock expressed her enthusiasm for what the fan zone promises to deliver, stating, “We’re hoping to make it the best place to watch the matches in all of British Columbia and Vancouver.” The fan festival, which will be free to enter, is designed to encapsulate the vibrant World Cup spirit, showcasing multiple large screens for live match viewing, along with a variety of food and beverage vendors.
The fan zone will utilise the entire PNE site, excluding Playland, marking it as the first major event to leverage the newly constructed Freedom Mobile Arch Amphitheatre. Adcock noted, “It will be transformed from what it is right now… all the parking lots and the various buildings will be animated and brought to life.”
Premium Experiences and Accessibility
In addition to general entry, the amphitheatre will offer premium seating options for those seeking an elevated viewing experience. Adcock highlighted the potential for diverse premium offerings, including group hosting, exclusive food choices, and reserved seating. While details regarding ticket prices are yet to be announced, the emphasis remains on making the festival accessible.
“The goal with the fan festival is to make it inclusive and accessible and family-friendly and affordable,” she stated, acknowledging the high demand for match tickets across the 16 host cities. The festival aims to ensure that everyone can partake in the celebration, regardless of their ability to secure tickets to the actual games.

Safety is a top priority for the event, with Adcock confirming that the city is collaborating with the Vancouver Police Department and provincial authorities to ensure a secure environment for all attendees. “It’s really important that our whole community gets an opportunity to participate,” she remarked, expressing excitement about showcasing Vancouver on a global stage.
