A leading British home improvement retailer, Wickes, has reported strong sales performance in the second half of 2025, driven by a “mildly deflationary pricing environment” that has helped boost customer demand.
The FTSE 250 group, which operates 230 stores across the UK, saw its group revenues grow by 6.3% to £788 million in the six-month period, with like-for-like sales increasing by 5.3%. This contributed to a 5.9% rise in total revenues for the full year 2025, reaching £1.64 billion.
Wickes’ chief executive, David Woods, attributed the positive results to the company’s “value proposition” resonating with customers, allowing it to gain market share against competitors. He also highlighted “good momentum” in the firm’s design and installation business, which saw 6.9% growth on the back of strong demand for new kitchens and bathrooms.
“Pleasingly, growth has been volume-driven across the business, with customers turning to Wickes for value, convenience and speed,” Woods said. “Our design and installation customers have responded well to the enhancements to our offer, enabling us to build on the sales momentum we have established this year.”
The company’s shares rose by 3.7% on Thursday morning following the announcement, as investors welcomed the stronger-than-expected sales performance.
Wickes stated that it remains on track to meet market expectations for the full year, and the retailer is looking forward to “supporting even more customers with their home improvement projects in the year ahead.”
The positive results come amid a challenging economic environment, with many consumers facing rising costs of living. Wickes’ ability to attract customers through its value proposition and efficient operations has allowed it to navigate these headwinds and deliver robust growth.
As the home improvement sector continues to evolve, Wickes’ focus on providing customers with a compelling mix of value, convenience and quality services appears to be paying dividends, positioning the company for further success in the years to come.
