In a concerning incident in the heart of Scotland’s capital, two teenage boys have been apprehended by the police after reports of individuals carrying bladed weapons in Edinburgh city centre. The arrest comes after a photograph emerged showing a young man walking along Rose Street while carrying what appeared to be a large machete, causing alarm among nearby pedestrians.

The incident unfolded on Friday afternoon at around 2:55 pm, when the police, including specialist firearms officers, were called to the scene on Rose Street. Upon arrival, the authorities swiftly took action, and two male youths, aged 17 and 15, were arrested in connection with the incident.

Fortunately, no one was reported to have been injured during the incident, and Police Scotland has confirmed that their investigation into the matter is ongoing. The photograph, captured by a local resident, showed the young man walking with the apparent machete in his hand, just a short distance from other members of the public, raising concerns about public safety.

The arrest of the two teenagers is a stark reminder of the need for vigilance and the importance of addressing the issue of weapon-related crimes, particularly among the younger generation. The incident has undoubtedly caused unease within the local community, and the authorities are likely to face questions about the measures they are taking to ensure the safety of Edinburgh’s residents and visitors.

As the investigation continues, the public is urged to remain alert and to report any suspicious activity or concerns to the police immediately. The safety and well-being of the community are of paramount importance, and the authorities are committed to taking all necessary steps to address this concerning incident and prevent similar occurrences in the future.
