Construction is set to commence on a significant new natural gas pipeline in central Alberta, following the provincial power regulator’s approval of the Yellowhead project by Canadian Utilities Ltd. The initiation of construction is anticipated to generate approximately 2,000 direct jobs within the construction sector. Canadian Utilities has revealed that all major pipeline and compressor contracts, as well as supply and materials agreements, have been finalised. Sharpe expressed confidence in the project’s execution, noting, “With our extensive natural gas infrastructure experience and strong partnerships with contractors, crews, communities, and Treaty 6 Nations, ATCO is ready to move this critical project into construction.”
